To start with remove the old carpet and file or remove the staples and tack stripes if any with a hammer. Once this is done, clean the floor thoroughly so as to remove the dust and debris that got accumulated due to various factors. If the floor looks wet and moist wait till it gets dry completely. Mildew and mold get breed up over the wet and moist area.
-
Make “X”-marking between the diagonal corners of the room so as to find the centre of the room.
-
Make additional perpendicular lines by finding the center of each wall.
-
Once these perpendicular grids are formed, arrange the carpet tiles following the grids of chalk line so as to ensure that the tiles are butted in a square manner. While planning the layout try to minimize the wastage of tiles by cutting them on the border. Adjust the chalk lines so as to create neat border tiles of equal size in all the corners.
-
Then, connect the tiles with the help of adhesive tabs or glue. The tab’s sticky side should be placed up so that the tile can be stick to them by pressing against it.
