The following are the tips on the installation of a carpet.
Laying a carpet in a room
The things needed to install a carpet in your room are Tack strips, Seam iron, Knee kicker, Gloves, Stapler, Carpet, Seam Tape and the hammer. Few of these things are available in the market and can easily purchase it on rent. Here are the steps on the installation of the carpet.
-
The first thing you should do is to remove the old carpet and then underlay the new one. It is easy to get out the old tack strips if worn out. Simultaneously, you can check if there is any tile or floor board that is loose and can repair them.
-
Place the tack strips along the room, leave one-fifth inch of space between the wall and the strips. Ensure that the pins of the tack strips face the wall and placing tack strips in path of the door is not suggested.
-
The next step is to underlay the carpet in strips and then staple it on. If you want to carpet it on a concrete floor, then you need a glue to fix the carpet to the floor.
-
Then take the measurement of that room where you need to place the carpet; add five inches more and cut the carpet based on the measurement. Place it on the floor and staple tack strips to the carpet with a knee knicker. Cut out the extra length using a cutter.
